RICE FARMING

Oryza sativa. That is the botanical name of the world’s second most popular cereal after maize, rice. To the average Nigerian, it needs no introduction because it  has become one of the most important foods in the country, consumed by both the wealthy and the poor. This position was attained largely on account of its steady demand by the Nigerian populace for both domestic and commercial consumption.

For the production of fine quality rice JIA started the cultivation of rice in its own agriculture farms in Kano and Kaduna States. 

PADDY PROCUREMENT

The quest to sell best rice starts with seed selection. Keep this idea in mind finest quality of 

paddy  is purchased from the best rice growers. Price is not an issue where quality matters. 

Farmers are directly contacted to ensure that we receive the highest quality of paddy. 

Comprehensive inspection & testing precede purchase of paddy lots. Random samples are 

drawn from paddy and tests are performed after processing in mini mill to confirm yield, grain length, field admixture and cooking characteristics. Every lot has to meet stringent quality 

parameters before selection for processing.

RICE HARVEST 

Paddy  harvesting activities include reaping, stacking, handling threshing, cleaning, and hauling 

whether harvesting by hands or a machine depends on the size of operation and the amount of 

mechanization.  However, traditional harvesting activities such as field drying and stacking/piling 

are not employed in our rice mill company because they can lead to rapid quality deterioration 

and increased harvest loses.

PADDY DRYING

Drying of paddy is an art. The maturity of Rice directly effects the cooking of Rice. Once 

cleared from the laboratory, paddy is then received in drying section equipped with latest steam dryer technology. The moist paddy is fed into the steam column dryers controlled by heat exchangers. The moisture of the paddy is controlled through a smooth and constant supply of hot air blowing in the chambers of the steam drying columns that brings the moister down from 24 percent to 12 percent. The paddy is then sent to godowns for a minimum of 72 hours tempering process.

PADDY CLEANER

Paddy cleaner is designed to separate impurities like straw, dust, lighter particles, stones from 

paddy, so the next machines will work more efficiently when paddy is cleaned in paddy cleaners. Different sieves can separate large, small and light impurities from wheat, paddy, corn and oil bearing materials.

We manufacture Paddy & rice cleaner machines, including pre-cleaners and vibrating cleaners. These Grain cleaners are used for sieving paddy and other grains to make them free of dust, small stones, paddy hulls and short straws(remove both big & small impurities from the raw grain). The cleaners are manufactured with single blower or double blower with double deck, having capacity to clean 1t to 12t of paddy per hour. Cleaners are also manufactured in special version for parboiling units with one blower and one aspiration box, which cleans the paddy up to 99%. 

This product is used in rice mills as cleaning machine for processing rice in bulk quantities, they are necessary units for a complete rice milling plant. These paddy cleaners are manufactured using high grade components and raw material, which are sourced from leading vendors of the industry. Apart from this, our product is tested by our quality controllers in our inspection unit to make sure its flawless performance. HUSKING

Paddy husking is a very delicate job  in rice industry. We perform this work with state of art machinery and fully skilled work force. We maintain the rice quality to keep its natural outlook without broken edges. We used high quality huskers offer high performance and unmatched capability for  removing husk from paddy rice. We use unique feeding mechanism gives the ability to dehusk rice at a greater capacity than conventional huskers.

RICE POLISHING

After husking paddy, rice is in brown color we turn rice in White color with our latest rice processing machines. We have expert team for this process. The layer of Bran is removed through polishing process to achieve the pearl white look. This process is carried out through several passes to save the grain from breakage, depending upon  the requirement of whiteness.

RICE GRADING

After polishing process Rice is graded at different stages on the basis of length and thickness. The shriveled, under-milled and broken grains are separated from the whole grain to achieve optimum and uniform grain length. This process is carried through three stage length and  thickness grading cylinders.

COLOR SORTING

A rice color sorting machine separates rice grains according to color differences in raw rice arising from anomalies like bits of stone, bad rice, black rice, etc. A high-resolution CCD optical sensor drives a mechanical sorter to separate different color rice from final product. By removing such impurities in this process improves the quality of the rice.

PACKING 

In JIA Rice Mills, we use sealed rice storage bins after color sorting process. From storage bins our work force packed rice into required packing bags and stitched or sealed these bags according to weight demands by our customers. We use environment friendly packing material.

PADDY SEPARATOR 

In rice milling process, after paddy husking, the brown rice/husk/paddy passed through husk  separating step, left out paddy should be separated before polishing or whitening. Its working principle is based upon gravity. Paddy mixed brown rice is slowly and thinly shook in a slanting flat tray. At a right shaking speed, pitch and slanting angle, paddy will float up from brown rice. 

While shaking, both brown rice and paddy will move along the tray length. At the end of tray will be 2 release paths, the higher one is for paddy and the lower one is for brown rice. Paddy Separator with uniquely designed dimples ensures perfect separation of paddy  from the mixture of paddy and brown rice. The Separator are having growing demand in the Modern paddy mills, it is a very efficient machine which separates paddy from shelled grains.
